West Side
I come from the west side of this sleepy little town
With a river in the middle and the water comes down brown
Now I live on the east side, it's not so different at all
The houses tend to be older here, and mine's a little small
But I got my garden on my little bit of land
With the cabbage and the rhubarb coming up through my two hands
And now a days I'm working more, I don't get downtown as much
It tends to makes me feel older than I am and a little bit out of touch
They put so many parking lots where the old buildings used to be
It's not the image that I carry from my days of being footloose and fancy free
I know I'm complaining but I always love to get back home
Having coffee with my parents in the morning is the stuff that fuels my soul
'Cause they brought me to the west side of this sleepy little town
With the river in the middle and the water comes down brown
